In August 1944 the second invasion of France was about to begin, but this time the Germans were on the run. As 95,000 Allied troops poured ashore in the south, General Wiese ordered a fighting retreat to the north. There his men would join the forces in Normandy to drive the Allies back into the sea: a second Dunkirk, more bloody, more brutal than the last. But the route was fraught with danger and who could cover their retreat?
Only one regiment seemed capable of such a task: the battle-hardened men of SS Assault Regiment Wotan. Only they could save the Third Reich from total defeat in Europe, but it would be a race against time . . .
